Pre and Post Facial Care

First Timers
For first timers, we recommend any one of the Essential or Vegan Facials. Our most popular ‘beginner’ facials are the Custom Essential, The Purification and the Osea Marine Facial. We custom blend masks and oils to address all of your skin's issues.

Medical Conditions
As a first time client, you'll be asked to fill out a medical questionnaire upon arrival. It is important to alert us of any conditions or medications you are taking, so we can adjust the treatment to avoid potential danger to you. It is also important to tell us before subsequent appointments when you medical profile has changed. For example, if you suffer from seizures, it would not be safe to use high frequency currents. Certain pressure points in the feet stimulate reproductive organs and should be avoided during pregnancy as they may cause contractions. For some cancer patients, certain massage movement cannot be performed, as they can deliver toxins through the lymphatic system, helping cancer to spread.

Before Your Facial
There is really nothing special that you need to do to prepare for your facial. However, being hydrated helps your skin look better any day. And don’t worry about taking your make up off prior to your facial... that is what the cleansing portion is all about!

Important! Do not exfoliate for about 5 days prior to your treatment, and advise us if you are using Accutane or Retin A treatments. If you forget and exfoliate anyway, please alert us! We use very active, and sometimes aggressive, peels. Already exfoliated skin runs the risk of turing red, bubbling from burning, and likely scarring. Even if we switch to a milder scrub, exfoliated skin still runs a risk of being damaged.

Extractions
It may sound disgusting if we tell you that we love to exterminate congested pores, blackheads, milia and pustules. In fact, we find it very satisfying. If you do not want extractions, then please tell us. One thing we have found through our years as an esthetician is that people WANT their extractions. There is only so much time in a facial to do extractions and we usually allow no more than 10 minutes. If you would like us to be aggressive with extractions and would rather forfeit your massage to exterminate these skin varmints, then please speak up!

We have learned the art of extracting so that it is as painless as possible. However, many people think that painful extractions are the only way their skin will be clean. Our philosophy is that we'll try to address even the most stubborn milia and blackheads, but that if they refuse to come out, we will not risk bruising your skin. We are here to fix your skin, not damage it!

Post Facial
Wear sunscreen! After receiving an exfoliating treatment, you have a much greater risk of burning your skin.

It is very common after an enzyme or acid treatment for your skin to flake and peel. This depends on your sensitivity, the intensity of the peel, and your skin type. Do not panic if your skin even feels a bit scabby or callused a few days after an intense peel. Your skin is just going through the process and once it peels and flakes, it will be new and feel fabulous. And if you’ve got tougher skin, it’s possible you may not peel, but this doesn’t mean that the peel didn’t work.
