I love working with women and I wouldn’t trade it for anything. But I’ve become deeply saddened by the horrible words I hear when clients describe how they feel about themselves.
“”I’m not pretty. I look ugly. I’m too fat. I’m too hideous. My skin looks horrible. I can’t look in the mirror””
Stop it right now.
I am hearing waaaaayyy too much of this more now than I ever have in the 18 years of working in this industry. And truthfully, our jobs as skin care therapists have become so much more difficult. Why? The beauty industry promises complete transformation and while skin care can do magical things for your skin, it can’t change the way you feel about yourself.
Being beautiful is not about having great skin. It’s not about being thin. Being beautiful is not about having perfect hair or the whitest teeth. Beauty is a light within yourself that is being dimmed by the awful things you say to yourself every day, all day. Please don’t believe one word of it.
No one is perfect. No one is flawless.
You are unique and beautiful and you are one of a kind! And there is absolutely no one else out there like you!
If you want to change the way you feel about your body, about your skin, about your hair, your teeth, your nails, heal your mind and your heart first.
Change those negative thoughts in your head to, “I’m awesome! I’m unique! I am SVELT! I’m GORGEOUS! MY SMILE LIGHTS UP A ROOM!” Keep saying it to yourself and don’t buy into what others perception of beauty is.
Love yourself. Be bold. Wear that bright jacket and a big smile. Laugh. Pay someone else a compliment. Make someone’s day. Walk fiercely. Those things will turn heads faster than just a pretty face.
I’m here to remind you, that you are all that and so much more!
Take extra time to love you and your inner beauty will shine!
