The Power of Celery Juice

If you have been struggling with digestive issues, from severe gas and bloating or struggle with chronic constipation or diarrhea - or maybe you’ve been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome or Ulcerative colitis and you are tired of it taking over your life and ability to function, then please read.

Doctors and specialists are really at a loss because they don’t understand why you are having these issues and they lack the nutrition education to address your chronic pain from a holistic approach.

Back in October, I lead a group cleanse and I participated in hopes that I could relieve my Irritable Bowel symptoms.

I've struggled with this off and on for the last 4 or 5 years.  It has been debilitating and so uncomfortable. Many days, I couldn't bear to wear anything around my waist because of the swelling and inflammation.

During week one of my cleanse I started to feel incredible!  I mean, this was the digestive reset week, which is the serious part of the detox and we are eating yummy soups to soothe the digestive tract and give it a rest.  But once I started eating solid foods again, my tummy started flaring up.

I was so frustrated.  What could it be? Do I have to be on warm liquids for the rest of my life in order to experience less discomfort?

I was not willing to accept that answer.

One night, as I was preparing my food for the cleanse, I was listening to an audio-book from this health expert I had never heard of on Thyroid healing.  He kept talking about celery juice. "No matter what you do, just get on celery juice."

He spoke of the benefits for the digestive tract and basically, his teaching is this:

Our livers are full of toxins and become sluggish over time and cannot produce the bile needed to breakdown food properly.  Stress, poor diet, coffee, alcohol, and environmental toxins slow down the production of hydrochloric acid. Hydrochloric acid is very important as it also has a major role in breaking down food.

And then it dawned on me.......the soups felt amazing to eat because my digestive tract didn't have to do any work to break it down.

Celery juice helps restore hydrochloric acid.  And it was clear I was in need of hydrochloric acid to break down my food!

Now, I've heard about the benefits of celery juice, but all of my acupuncturists that I've ever worked with advised me to stay away from juicing because they didn't want me drinking anything cold.  And obviously, to keep the nutrients intact, the vegetables must be kept cold and is best served right away.

But I have a juicer and decided that this would not kill me to try it.  So I tried it and it changed my life. It has been months since I have had any flare-ups.  I am no longer bloated, no longer constipated and the swelling in my abdomen no longer exists.  I can also eat cruciferous vegetables, garlic, leeks, and onions. These foods that used to cause me pain and discomfort that I loved so much…….well, I was so excited to eat them again!

Obviously, there were other changes that I made to my nutrition plan to further avoid flare-ups and discomfort, but celery juice sealed the deal!

Celery juice is also loaded with mineral salts to soothe and nurture the digestive tract, kidneys, and adrenals and it is most useful in pulling toxins from the liver.

I have shared this with my partner, who had similar issues with his digestion like mine, and he does not go one single day without celery juice.  Neither do I!

So if you want a cheap alternative to reducing all digestive issues including indigestion, diarrhea, bloating, abdominal swelling, gas, and constipation, give celery juice a try.  This cost is approximately $1.00 per day and worth the investment to be free of discomfort!

How to drink your celery juice:

If you have a juicer, then you are ahead of the game.  Simply fill a 12 oz glass each day and drink. If you do not like the taste of celery juice, add some apple or pear!

If you do not have a juicer, then you can use a high powered blender.  Wash and chop 1/2 a bundle of celery into large chunks. Add 1/2 a cup to 1 cup filtered water.  Strain the juice through a filter into your cup and drink right away. Again, you can also add pear or apple.
